Change voicemail password field from "text" to "password"

Description

For added security. I know that asterisk keeps voice mail passwords in plain text but we would like to at least make it so if someone is just looking at FreePBX they do not see the password. Please replace type="text" with type="password" on the extension voice mail password section so this field is protected from overlooking eyes.

  • version set to 2.1.

Some administrators may like the ability to see (and double-check) voicemail passwords. This is a simple fix, but can other people weigh in on this?

I would say go ahead and make them hidden on the web interface. If you really need to see the pin then you are probably an administrator on the box and can look at voicemail.conf, or just change it in the web interface.

Perhaps the best solution here would be the-middle-of-the-road. Make the field hidden by default, but put a check box next to it the would "unhide" the ******'s. The status of the check box should NEVER be saved, it should always be unchecked (i.e. don't show), so that if someone happens to be looking over your shoulder as you open the extensions page, they shouldn't automatically get to see the password.

  • owner set to gregmac.
  • priority changed from minor to trivial.
  • status changed from new to assigned.
  • component changed from Core to Web interface.
  • version changed from 2.1 to SVN-HEAD.

This will be added into the new GUI for QuickFormBranch. A password field with a checkbox next to it that converts it to a regular text field. By default, the checkbox will be unchecked (password hidden), and (provided it is easy to do with jquery, which I believe it is) after 5-ish seconds the field will auto-hide itself.
