Description

If an extension is on a call and you intercom to that extension, the current call will be placed on hold so the intercom can come through. If you use a page group, then the current call is not interrupted as you would expect.

yup - paging module is due for an overhall, there are a bunch of notes on the wiki. The intercom doesn't check the channel status before barging in like the paging code does - so we need to make this change along with the rest when we get to that, if we don't fix this prior.

  • version changed from 2.3-branch to SVN-HEAD.

deferring to svn head and then we can review for backport. The issue is that intercom is fundamentally flawed because it is sending the call down channel/local which means it can end up forwarding, going to multiple devices (deviceuser mode) and not being handled correctly, etc. We will look at giving this more of an overhaul and fix this problem at the same time. See PagingIntercom and/or add to that wiki to see some of the discussion points, issues and ideas.

You may be interested to know that the latest firmware for the SPA942 and SPA962 has a specific fix for paging whilst in-call.

Here's the text for 5.1.15a|SC firmware:

  • On incoming page, do not automatically put the current calls on hold. Instead mix the incoming audio with that of the currently active calls; When user tries to put an incoming page call on hold, the phone will end the call instead; Play the brief PAGE Tone at the beginning of an incoming page

thanks for the input - this now means we will want to provide 'yet more' configuration abilities for the user, if they want to allow intercom to barge in on their phone or not - depending on which phone they have.

It certainly aint easy this software development lark... I feel your pain!
